Lower Your Carbon Footprint with Cutting-Edge Sustainable Packaging

Driven by a desire to preserve a healthy environment for future generations, we make it a top priority to set a cleaner, greener standard for the packaging industry. As a result, our commitment to sustainable packaging is evident in each step of our manufacturing process — from selection of materials and product development to manufacturing and freight. Our Sustainable Packaging Options

PPC means lower emissions, better recyclability, and less food waste. Sustainability is at the very heart of our modified humidity (MH) technology, which we invented over two decades ago and integrated with modified atmosphere (MA) packaging. In an era where the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced to the world that over 50% of global fresh produce perishes before it makes it to our plate, it’s more relevant than ever to be part of the solution to prolong the viability of our global food resources.

Our R&D’s postharvest and polymer laboratory are continuously developing the next generation of food waste reduction solutions for maximal shelf life of perishable produce with the greatest attention to environmental stewardship by ensuring reduced emissions and recyclability.

We use earth-friendly films to reduce your business’ environmental impact. Additionally, we recycle water and ink throughout the production cycle, which further mitigates our carbon footprint. But where our sustainability efforts truly shine is through the development of our sustainable packaging pouches.

Sustainable materials are key when it comes to reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and waterways.

PPC Flex Compostable Materials

EarthFirst® PLA Made With Ingeo

Compostable* • Carbon Neutral • Renewable Plant Base

  • Made from annually renewable plant resources
  • Just 0.3kg of CO2 generated per kg of polymer produced
  • Biodegrades in a maximum of 44 days when composted at a commercial composting facility
  • Excellent shelf life under recommended conditions (-70° to 125° Fin supported applications)
  • Certified to meet both ASTM D6400 (USA) and EN 13432 (EU) standards
  • For every 100 lbs. of PLA used, we recover almost 14 gallons of gas, offset car emissions for 6+ weeks, and power a 100-watt bulb for 8 months.

PPC Flex Recyclable Materials

LDPE — Low Density Polyethylene

LDPE is a substantially linear polymer (polyethylene), since LLDPE maintains its base properties during the recycling process, it is a commonly recycled material. It can be recycled again and again, eliminating waste while serving countless functions. It is resistant to impact (doesn’t break easily), moisture (water proof), and chemicals (can stand up to many hazardous materials).

LDPE — Low Density Polyethylene

  • Bags (e.g., clear, thin newspaper bags)
  • Dry cleaning film

HDPE — High-Density Polyethylene

HDPE is a type of plastic that is one of the most common packaging and construction materials in use today. Known for its strength and durability, 26% of all HDPE produced worldwide is used in the production of rigid packaging.

Benefits of HDPE Plastic

  • Easily Meltable and Moldable
  • Corrosion Resistance
  • Large Strength to Density Ratio
  • Easily Recycled:
Considering how much plastic we use in our day-to-day lives, one of the most important factors when deciding on a material is plastic recycling. Fortunately, HDPE plastic is easily recyclable, helping keep non-biodegradable waste out of landfills, while helping reduce plastic production by up to 50 percent! If you’re looking for a cost-effective, environmentally responsible material, HDPE may be the plastic for you.
